    Overview


    IIT Madras – HTIC MedTech Incubator (MTI) and Dr. Mehta’s Hospital is jointly organizing a 6 to 8 weeks Engagement program. IIT Madras – HTIC MedTech Incubator (MTI), supported by BIRAC. Healthcare Technology Innovation Centre (HTIC) is a joint initiative by Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) and Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. The focus is to foster and stimulate MedTech innovators, aspiring entrepreneurs and early stage start-ups. Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals is widely recognized as a leading Healthcare provider in India. Their focus is on customer health, safety and infection control has delivered top quartile clinical outcomes consistently.

    The objective of engagement program is to leverage on HTIC’s research/engineering capabilities and optimize the Dr.Mehta’s clinical expertise to effectively evaluate and implement the most viable solution in healthcare organizations.

    Engagement Program Details


    Registration

    • Registrations open from 21st December 2018 -
    • Teams should consist of minimum 2 members and maximum of 5 members
    • Each team can register only once.
    • Registration fee ₹500 + GST, per team to be paid through the proposed online gateway during the submission of your application.
    • Registrations will be closed on 15th January 2019 at 5:00pm.
    • We are open to applicants from different backgrounds, institutions & professions.
    • Who can participate: Scientists, Clinicians, Engineers, Technology entrepreneurs & likeminded individuals determined in turning a problem into great opportunity.
    • Ticketing T&C
      • One ticket will generated on each registration.
      • One Ticket admits only one team.
      • No refund will be provided once the ticket is generated.

    Structure/Process of the Engagement Program

    • Inaugural
      • Engagement program will be inaugurated on 21st January 2019. The participants will be provided with the pre-determined problem statements for healthcare organisations.
      • This will be followed by a facility tour to provide a deeper understanding of the problem and also giving an opportunity to the participants to identify any other real-time problems faced by the hospital.
      • A proposal (prescribed template) to be shared by participants based on their initial inference.
      • The participants will be given 15 days to share a proposal on how they intent to solve the problem solution based on the template.

    • Screening of Proposal
      • The proposal will be screened by a panel of experts from Dr.Mehtas Hospital & HTIC committee.
      • The teams will be selected based on their proposed solution and will be called for a pitch their solution and business model to the screening panel.

    • Product Development (6 weeks)
      • The selected teams will be pre-incubated at the MedTech Incubator and will be given 6 weeks to build a working prototype.
      • The teams will be supported and guided by Dr. Mehtas hospital & HTIC network for their product development.

    • Demo Day
      • At the end of 6 weeks the teams showcase their working prototype/solution at the Demo day.
      • Teams with a minimal viable product will be incubated at HTIC-MTI* and will be supported by Dr. Mehta’s hospital for their pilot run and further deployment of the solution along with an initial seed fund.

    • Support Provided
      • The selected teams will be supported and guided by Dr. Mehta’s hospital & HTIC network for their product development throughout the period of 6 weeks.
      • Technical and Impact/Business mentors will be accessible in the course of the engagement program to provide guidance to participants.
      • The participants get to work on a real time problem & solution what they identify in a healthcare organization or a pre-determined problem statement proposed by Dr. Mehta’s hospital.
      • The teams presenting on the demo day will get to be Incubated at IITM HTIC MedTech Incubator and get to clinically validate and deploy the solution at Dr. Mehta’s hospital along with an initial seed fund.
      • Promising teams also scale their solution and deploy it in other leading Healthcare organizations/units.
      • All the teams called for pitching their proposed solution will be appreciated.

    • More Details
      • Late/incomplete registrations or registrations that contain incorrect or inaccurate details will not be accepted.
      • Teams are allowed to discuss and develop their ideas and sketch out a plan of action prior to the event but all technical designs and developed code for each entry must be created during the engagement program.
      • Teams are expected to operate as individual start-ups as a cohesive team, along with technical & business guidance from HTIC-MTI & Mehta’s Hospital during the engagement program.
      • Selection and judging is subject to panel’s discretion.
